About

Welcome!  My name is Jacquelyn,
but you can call me Jac.
I live in beautiful Calgary, Alberta—home of the Calgary Stampede and epic mountain views.  In my free time, I enjoy yoga, music, and time with family and friends.  The lake is my happy place.

I love being an editor.  Talking with clients about the editing stages and the methodical way I comb through a manuscript is sincerely fun for me.  I’m very much a “people person”, and I have all the personal qualities you want in an editor—I’m  meticulous, organized, and I always get projects done on time.
Prior to joining the editing world, I was a middle-school teacher for 15 years in Gibbons, Alberta and a Vice Principal for the last six months of that stretch.  My years in education made me a multi-tasking, prioritizing, communication queen!

I also lived Down Under in 2012 (in a little place called Esperance, Western Australia, if you’re keen to check the map) while on teacher exchange.  My experiences have made me the professional I am today, and I’m so happy that I can use my expertise to help people with their writing projects.

My Values

Professionalism
From our first email or phone call, all of my communication with you is respectful and aimed at fully understanding the scope of your project.
Reliability
I do my best work, show up on time to meetings (in-person or online), and deliver the finished product on time, and on budget.
Consistency
With me, you can expect the same enthusiastic editor every time.  I would love to be your go-to editor and content writer!

Education

I attended Grant MacEwan College for two years,  then transferred over to the University of Alberta for the rest of my Bachelor of Education Degree.

I spent a year substitute teaching in three school divisions in Edmonton and the surrounding rural area.  The following year, I moved to Fort Chipewyan—a beautiful, fly-in fly-out community in Northern Alberta—to teach a wonderful group of grade 4 students.

In 2006, I scored a teaching position at Gibbons School, 15 minutes north of Edmonton.  I taught in Gibbons for almost 15 years, finishing my tenure there with six months as School Vice-Principal.

I completed my Editing Certificate through Simon Fraser University in August, 2022 while starting my business.
